Law to Protect Women Passes Senate 95-0
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Senate unanimously passed on
Wednesday a final version of legislation to help protect women
from domestic violence and combat global traffickers who force
thousands of women into the sex trade. The measure, approved 95-0, will be sent to President
Clinton to be signed into law.

The 44th session of CSW will be held from 28 February - 17 March 2000.
Eleven days of the three-week session will be allocated to the Commission
acting as Preparatory Committee for the GA Special Session, "Women
2000: Gender Equality, Development and Peace for the 21st Century." Two
panel discussions will be held duirng the 44th Session of the CSW, and the
PrepCom, respectively. This will be the last session when the Commission
acts as the Preparatory Committee before the Special Session.
